Our Service
The National Clock Register is the UK's only dedicated anti-theft register functioning within the clock dealer network. The company was created by partners from within the clock trade and the IT Internet industry.
We have 25 years worth of contacts, with dealers and auction houses, which has enabled us to set up the National Clock register network - a network committed to reducing the theft of cherished clocks, and assist in the recovery of any that have been stolen.
Registration
Our primary service is communication. When you register your clock with The National Clock Register, its details and photograph are stored on a secure (off-line) database. Once we are informed that a registered clock has been stolen, we immediately transfer the details and colour photograph of the clock onto this website (see Stolen Clocks). In addition, all affiliated members of our national network of dealers, retailers, and auctioneers are immediately alerted via email bulletin.
There is no limit to how long the clock stays on the website - it stays there until the clock is recovered. As a double assurance we also send regular reminders to members of The National Clock Register network. This ensures maximum coverage of the theft to the people (i.e. the dealers and auction houses) who have the most regular access to clocks that are for sale. When they discover your clock, they immediately notify us and the police, and details of it's whereabouts are passed onto you for retrieval.
Security data tags
To further secure your property, The National Clock Register also supplies data security tags. These tags, attached to your clock, make it much easier for your clock to be recovered, whether inside or outside of our national network of members. The tags we provide are part of a national security system used and recommended by the Police. Each force has electronic scanners that can read and identify the security tag (from a distance of over 4 meters/yards) through any non-metallic surface*.
These electronic data tags are tiny glass tubular microchips. They can be inserted deep into the frame of a clock making them undetectible and unremovable. Click here for fitting instructions.
*We are currently in negotiation with our security equipment suppliers regarding the development of microchips that can be recognised through metallic surfaces. Although they are not currently available, we would be keen to gauge the level of interest in this type of device. Please click here to email us and register your interest.
Registration Certificate
With each clock registration, The National Clock Register provides you with a unique registration number (TNCR number) and Registration Certificate for your clock. This documentation provides evidence of a clock's validity when selling a clock, and also assurance to the buyer. Registration with the National Clock Register adds to the history of the clock (its Provenance), making it a more valued article.
